A different kind of high school · Midtown Toronto
Where teens who learn differently find their footing.
AVRO Academy is a small, supportive independent high school for students in Grades 9 to 12. We teach the full Ontario curriculum and grant OSSD credits, in classes small enough to actually know your teen.
Ontario curriculum · OSSD credits · Ministry-inspected · Serving families since 2010
For a lot of bright, capable teens, a big mainstream school just does not fit. Anxiety, attention, learning differences, or a hard couple of years can leave a student sliding when they should be thriving. AVRO was built for exactly those students. Since 2010, we have paired a real Ontario high school education with the structure, patience, and one-to-one attention that help students rebuild confidence and finish strong.
The AVRO difference
Small classes
Our classes stay small on purpose, so teachers can teach to each student instead of to a room of thirty.
Learning that fits the student
We meet students where they are, adjust the pace, and build on strengths rather than forcing one way of learning.
Support built in
Therapeutic and academic support are part of the day here, not an afterthought bolted on at the end.
What a day at AVRO looks like
Real academics, real support, at a pace that works.
Academics and OSSD credits
The full Ontario curriculum, Grades 9 to 12, taught by teachers who have time for questions.
Learning and wellbeing support
Structure, encouragement, and individual attention woven through the school day.
Getting started
A simple, human admissions process that starts with a conversation and a visit.
Is AVRO right for your teen?
AVRO tends to be a good fit for students who:
- Feel lost or anxious in large, busy classrooms
- Learn differently, including ADHD, anxiety, or learning disabilities
- Are bright and capable but have become disengaged from school
- Need a smaller, calmer setting to do their best work
